A Special Highlight: “Stronger Than Needles and Drops” Book Launch & Incredible Support
One of the most heartwarming moments of the event was the celebration and sale of “Stronger Than Needles and Drops: Living with Type 1D” by Talia Venn.
This inspiring memoir tells the true story of Talia—diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just eight years old—and her brave journey of daily challenges, strength, and hope. Through humour, honesty, and emotional storytelling, Talia shows young readers and families alike that diabetes may shape her life, but it will never limit her spirit.
The book also beautifully introduces the Sweet Support Foundation, a movement inspired by Talia’s story to empower diabetic children and their families across South Africa and beyond.
During the event, the book received remarkable support, with many attendees purchasing copies to support the cause, learn more about Type 1 Diabetes, or gift it to someone who needs encouragement. The overwhelming response not only honoured Talia’s courage but also strengthened the mission of creating awareness and support for diabetic children.
